Most nail salons in Ho Chi Minh City don't publish their prices online. They say "reasonable" or "student-friendly" and leave the real number for the bill. VESSCA publishes its full price list, and this guide explains how a nail set is actually priced, so you can estimate the cost before you book — wherever you go.

A nail set is four charges, not one

When you ask "how much is a gel manicure?", the answer usually covers only one of these four parts:

  1. Prep — cuticle care and shaping. Always needed: gel does not hold on nails that haven't been prepped.
  2. Length — press-on tips, builder gel or extensions. Only if you want nails longer than your own.
  3. Colour — plain gel, jelly, cat-eye, or imported Korean gel. This is where prices vary most.
  4. Nail art and add-ons — hand painting, rhinestones, charms. Priced per detail or per stone.
One more charge people often forget: removing old gel, 30,000₫. Add it if you still have gel on your nails.

Why prices differ between salons

  • The gel brand. Generic gel and authentic imported Korean gel differ several times in cost. Cheap gel yellows faster and is a common cause of skin irritation.
  • Time per guest. A full set takes 60–90 minutes. A set finished in 30 minutes has skipped steps — usually prep or proper removal.
  • Overlapping bookings. One technician serving three guests at once costs less, and the results are harder to keep consistent.

Three questions to ask before you start

  1. "What will the total be for this set?" — ask before the filing starts.
  2. "Are there any extra charges?" — this brings up removal, fills and stones.
  3. "Which brand is this gel?" — a salon using authentic products will show you the bottle.
