Nail Biter? You Can Still Get a Manicure — Here Is How

Bitten nails can be done if the skin has no wounds. Three options, the best shapes and colours, and how a manicure can help you stop biting.

Many people who bite their nails assume they are too short for a manicure. In fact, a proper manicure is one of the more effective ways to stop: coated nails are harder to bite, and a nice set makes you want to protect it.

Can bitten nails be done?

Yes, as long as the skin has no open wounds. If cuticles are bleeding, swollen or painful, wait about a week for them to heal.

Keeping it up

  • Notice when you bite — stress, phone, waiting.
  • Cuticle oil nightly so hangnails do not tempt you.
  • Do not tear loose skin.
  • Rebook every 3 weeks for the first few months.

If biting is linked to ongoing stress or damages skin often, it is worth talking to a doctor.
