Gel X, Dual Form and Acrylic: Three Nail Extension Techniques Compared

How Gel X, dual form and acrylic differ in thickness, strength, odour and price, and how to choose.

Beyond basic tips and builder gel, three extension techniques are often confused: Gel X, dual form and acrylic. Here is how they differ.

Gel X

Pre-shaped soft-gel tips that cover the whole nail, sized per finger, bonded with gel and cured. Thinner and more natural than plastic tips. Quick and uniform; shapes are fixed. VESSCA: 190,000₫ before colour.

Dual form

Gel (often polygel) is filled into a reusable form, pressed onto the nail, cured and released, then refined. Even curve, thin tip, strong — ideal for long almond or coffin. Takes more time and skill. VESSCA: 350,000₫ before colour.

Acrylic

Powder mixed with liquid monomer, air-cured without a lamp. Very hard and good for very long nails, but strong-smelling, thicker and slower to remove.
